Maintaining a positive outlook is not only helpful, it is a personal responsibility.  Activities that are done just for the joy of them help keep us light-spirited and positively engaged in our lives.  Through play we develop our brains, learn valuable life skills including social skills, communication skills, coordination, and problem-solving.  Play encourages us to utilize our imagination, rehearse roles, explore our interests, develop our talents, and it fuels our curiosity.

Hobbies rejuvenates our spirits.  As Janet Gordon says in her interview below, “You’re loving yourself when you are doing something you love.”

Enjoy a Hobby - Interview with Janet Gordon

Listening and dancing to live music, spending a morning in the library, an afternoon in a museum, or learning to play a musical instrument, the possibilities to uplift the spirit are limitless.  Many communities sponsor events as well.  The important thing is attitude.  Be willing to give new people, places, and things an opportunity to show you how good life is!

New experiences, whether they are adventures in nature or travel to new places, stimulate the brain.  As we respond to different environments and situations, our brains are forced to work harder which builds connections in the brain called synapses.  Additionally, adventures are a fun way to maintain fitness, and being in the elements is calming to the mind and emotions.

Love            Work            Play

When we set time aside to play, we honor our own selves, providing that is, that we make good choices.  There are endless possibilities to positively engage our minds, bodies, and spirits.  We can play sports, musical instruments, video games, card games, and board games.  We can engage in hobbies, take adventures, and visit places of interest.  New experiences, whether they are adventures in nature or travel to new places, stimulate the brain.  As we respond to different environments and situations, our brains are forced to work harder which builds connections in the brain called synapses.  Adventures are also a fun way to maintain fitness, and being in nature is calming to the mind and emotions.
